Fresh food in a fresh location

Calgarians won’t be without locally produced products for long, as the Calgary Farmers’ Market broke ground on their new southeast location yesterday.

Located just off of Blackfoot Trail, the market will be 10,000 square feet larger and will have about 90 vendors, 15 of which are new.

“We’re sticking very true to the make it, bake it, grow it, Alberta production,” said general manager Ken Aylesworth.

Aylesworth said that about 80 per cent of the existing vendors will move to the new location, which is set to open on Feb. 4, 2011.
