Friends of a man who died after being Tasered by police say they are planning a special wrestling event “to remember a man that gave so much, despite his tragic death.”

Trevor Grimolfson died while he was rushed to hospital on Oct. 30 shortly after he allegedly assaulted someone inside a west-end pawnshop.

Police said they were called to the scene and Tasered Grimolfson in order to control him before he was sent to hospital.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is still investigating the incident to determine whether Grimolfson died as a result of being Tasered.

“He’s a really good character, a really good guy, but it’s unfortunate that this happened in the last 20 minutes of his life, said friend Gavin Fitzpatrick.

“But a lot of people knew Trevor in a completely different way.”

Fitzpatrick said because Grimolfson was an active supporter of Monster Pro Wrestling, friends will be holding a special wrestling event on Saturday at Avenue Theatre.
Money raised from the event will be put into a trust fund to help his two teenage children get “a head start when they turn 18,” said Fitzpatrick.
