Funeral set for victim in murder-suicide

The funeral service for Ashley Boudreau will be held at the Neville Funeral Home in Pembroke next Tuesday.

Boudreau, a 24-year-old native of Deep River, was killed in a murder/suicide earlier this month.

Her body was discovered, along with the body of 33-year-old Andrew Ferguson, in their Cambridge Street South apartment building on Jan. 16.

A police investigation concluded Ferguson killed Boudreau before taking his own life.

Boudreau’s aunt, Yvonne Boudreau, said the family is devastated. She said it is made more difficult by the revelations that Ashley had been involved with drugs and prostitution.

“As far as I know, she moved to Ottawa and had a job and was doing quite well and there was never anything more said,” said Yvonne.

Yvonne said Ashley told her sister over Christmas that she planned to move back to Deep River.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit launched an investigation after a chief’s complaint was initiated to review the police response for a call made from the same address on Jan. 7.
