Until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, IHOP will be giving away three pancakes per customer to celebrate National Pancake Day and raise money for various charities.

This year, IHOP is encouraging its guests to donate to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals or other local charities in an effort to add to the nearly $20 million the restaurant has raised by celebrating National Pancake Day since 2006 by giving away free short stacks, according to the chain’s website.

On National Pancake Day last year, IHOPgave away 6 million free pancakes and raised $3.5 million for children’s charities, CBS reported. The goal this year is to again raise $3.5 million.

Pancake Day’s origin goes back centuries as people wanted to use their supply of eggs, milk and butter before Lent, CBS added.

IHOP’s free pancakes are limited to dine-in customers only and will be available at participating locations, the restaurant stated.
