“E! News” host and reality star Giuliana Rancic has annouced she has early-stage breast cancer. On NBC’s “Today,” Rancic, 36, revealed that the cancer was detected by her doctor during her very public struggle to get pregnant, shown on her reality show “Giuliana & Bill.”
“Through my attempt to get pregnant for the third time though IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer,” Rancic said. “It’s been a shock … A lot of people have been asking, ‘We saw that you went and got IVF, so what happened? Are you pregnant?’ But sadly, we’ve had to put that off.”
Rancic said her doctor told her a pregnancy could accelerate the spread of cancer. She is scheduled to have surgery this week, followed by several weeks of radiation treatment. Rancic said, though, that she is still determined to have a baby.
“Now I truly believe God was looking out for me … Had I gotten pregnant, a few years down the line I could have been a lot sicker. So this baby saved my life.”
