An outage that shut down Apple’s iTunes, iBooks and App Store started at 5 a.m. Wednesday and wasn’t fixed for nearly 12 hours.
The global shutdown made it impossible to iPhone and iPad users to connect to the company’s services.
Almost all day, Apple’s system status page showed four of its dozens of services down -- but they were the big ones: iTunes, iBooks, App Store, and Mac App store.
Apple blamed the problem “ on an internal error affecting the system for directing online traffic.”
The digital downtime comes just two days after the company unveiled the Apple Watch.
Many users took to social media and wondered whether the company is about to announce a credit card breach. There was no indication that that is the case.
Now, some users want Apple to comp them a day.
