America needs a senator who knows how to castrate a pig. That's what Joni Ernst, a Republican senate candidate from Iowa, thinks, at least.
Ernst released a campaign video in which she opens with the line, "I'm Joni Ernst. I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm so when I get to Washington, I'll know how to cut pork." The shot is followed by a pig oinking. By the way - the video is titled "Squeal" because Ernst wants to make the "big spenders" in Washington do just that.
Why does Ernst's team think a 30-second spot about castration will be effective? Perhaps because it implies that she is a down-home, salt of the earth conservative woman who can castrate not just hogs, but Democrats.
Ernst, who sports a Laura Bush haircut, a flannel shirt and a vest as she walks in a barn stocked with bales of hay tells her viewers: "My parents taught us to live within our means. It's time to force Washington to do the same."
Ernst is also a mother and a veteran of the Iraq war. She is running against several Republicans and Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley for Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin's seat. In the meantime, maybe she can help this Redditor with his third testicle.
