For die-hard fans of Sex And The City, attending the long-awaited sequel necessitates more than a pair comfy pants and a box of milk duds – it’s a girls’ night out experience.
Across Vancouver tonight, women will be donning heels and clinking martini glasses at Sex And The City-themed parties before hailing cabs to the theatre to catch the sequel to the hit HBO show.
In celebration, Shelley Klassen, designer and CEO of Blushing Boutiques, is hosting a soiree tonight that includes some of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte’s favourite things – designer shoes, makeup, summer dresses and even rabbit vibrators.
“And cosmos, of course,” added Klassen.
Fifteen guests will receive a movie ticket and limo ride to see Sex and the City 2 on Saturday.
“(The show) is so much fun,” Klassen said. “We, as modern-day girls, can relate to it … It’s (about) these really strong-minded, independent women. I think we’re all a bit like all the characters.”
On Thursday and Friday, The Academic, Cinema and The Granville Room pubs will be giving all guests with a ticket stub for the Sex and the City 2 a complimentary cosmo.
There will also be a Best Carrie Bradshaw Outfit competition with the winner receiving a $100 gift certificate.
“It’s a (chance) to celebrate women and fashion,” said Klassen. “Just a gaggle of girls having a blast.”
