La Cité collégiale is the latest local post-secondary institution to join Project Hero, a scholarship program that provides financial aid to the children of Canadian Forces members who were killed in the line of duty.

Project Hero targets individuals 25 and younger who attend a participating institution, which now includes La Cité collégiale, uOttawa, Carleton University and Algonquin College – all of which joined the initiative earlier this year.

The amount of the scholarship varies according to tuition fees and the length of the program up to eight semesters.

“By joining Project Hero, the college community has found a practical way of thanking the men and women who uphold the values of democracy on our behalf,” said La Cité collégiale president Andrée Lortie.

Project Hero is the brainchild of former National Defence chief of staff Rick Hillier.
