Vancouver’s new YVR Airport Station — which will be the terminus for the Canada Line — hasn’t been completed in real life, but in Lego life it’s up and running.
A replica of the station, along with a model of King Edward Station, are on display at the Telus World Of Science as part of its Wheels, Wings and Waves Lego exhibition — which includes several B.C. elements.
It took more than 50 hours and 4,000 pieces to build King Edward Station, and 100 hours and 7,000 pieces to put together YVR Airport Station.
They include Lego people waiting to board the trains and tiny detailed graphics, including a Jugo Juice outlet.
The two stations, along with a racecar track and spaceship, were added on Saturday to the exhibition, which runs until May 4.
The additions expand upon the existing models — which include the Titanic, a Model T Ford and a B.C. Ferries ship — to showcase the history of air, land and water transportation.
“We knew that as soon as we had space available, we had to expand the gallery to give our visitors more … Lego exhibits that will amaze them,” said Rhoda Klein, curator of the exhibition. “(It’s) been a huge hit.”
