Lilith Fair to return in 2010, with Sarah McLachlan involved

TORONTO – Lilith Fair is coming back in 2010.

A spokesman for Nettwerk Music Group tells the Canadian Press that the all-female concert tour would return next summer.

Nettwerk’s Rich Adams says co-founder Sarah McLachlan will be involved in the revived fest, but wouldn’t specify whether it would be in the capacity of performer or organizer.

The touring festival initially ran from 1997-1999 and featured only female artists or female-led bands, including Sheryl Crow, Sinead O’Connor, Dixie Chicks, Fiona Apple and Queen Latifah.

The festival raised more than $10 million for women’s charities.

The Lilith Fair website shows the festival’s logo with the words “returning in 2010…” and a link to the fest’s Wikipedia entry.

Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride recently Twittered about the fest, announcing last Friday that it would return and then adding on Saturday: “lilith fair will look at doing 2 weeks in the UK/Europe in 2010.”

McLachlan recently said she was in the process of writing her first album of new material since 2003’s “Afterglow.”
