Be careful where you sleep off your hangover. When screams were heard from behind the gates of a closed Manhattan bar Friday morning, police cut the lock to free a young woman who’d been stuck in the drinkery overnight.

Therese Hipolto, 20, from Flemington, New Jersey went out the night before to head into the Lower East Side for drinks during a friend’s birthday celebration at Boss Tweed’s at 115 Essex Street. After a few hours, she fell asleep in the bathroom while the bar closed up without first checking for any patrons left behind, the New York Post reported.

The next morning, Hipolto awoke and realizing what had occurred, called the police just before 8 a.m. Less than an hour and a half later, she was rescued, still in her party dress.

The underage party goer told the Post she believes her drink was probably spiked, only recalling having two drinks, going for pizza and then sitting in a booth at Boss Tweed’s after which point her memory is unclear.

“Whatever happened last night, I’m not that kind of person,” Hipolto said to the Post. It has been reported that police are investigating whether she used a fake ID, which could result in serious consequences for the bar.
