Authorities said that a 43-year-old Philadelphia man was killed on Wednesday when his motorcycle struck a turning vehicle on Kelly Drive by the Girard Avenue bridge.

According to law enforcement officials, George James, of the 6400 block of Ross Street, was killed Wednesday after his motorcycle struck an oncoming vehicle at about 9:38 p.m. at Kelly Drive at Brewery Hill Drive.

James was traveling northbound on Kelly when his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was struck by a BMW driven by a 47-year-old woman who was attempting to make a left turn off of Kelly onto Brewery Hill.

James was thrown from the motorcycle, police said, and he landed on a grassy median. According to police, the female driver stayed on the scene, and James was transported to Hahnemann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No charges or arrest were announced.
