Manslaughter charge laid in toddler’s death

A 26-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a Kentville toddler.

Just a month shy of his third birthday, Antonio Pinch died in his North Kentville home May 8. His body was taken to a medical facility where police were called.

Police are calling it a “sudden death.”

“An autopsy was done in this matter, but we’re not disclosing any information gleaned from the autopsy simply because the investigation is ongoing and now this matter is before the courts,” RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Brigdit Leger said Thursday.

Adam William States was charged with manslaughter and taken into custody until Monday for a court appearance in Kentville.

Leger said it took this long to lay charges because at first they were investigating an unexplained death and had to gather evidence to build a case.
