The late designer was honoured with the British Fashion Institute’s Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design for the body of work he created during his career.

Also honoured at this week’s awards were Phoebe Philo of Celine as designer of the year, and Naomi Campbell, who received a special recognition award for her work in the industry.

Still celebrating its Emmy Award win, Modern Family is now in contention for three Writers Guild Awards. Also nominated are 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, Glee, Nurse Jackie and Boardwalk Empire.

The awards are handed out in February.

What’s next for the Canada-born filmmaker?

Well, looks like he is going to team up with another iconic Canuck institution. Deadline.com reports the producer and director will make a 3-D film centred on Cirque du Soleil.

DESPICABLE ME

Steve Carell’s tale of a criminal mastermind whose plan to steal the moon is ruined when his heart is warmed by the sudden arrival of a trio of orphaned girls hits store and rental shelves on Tuesday.

The DVD release of Despicable Me includes extras, such as a look into the world where the animated film is set, as well as previews of the Despicable Me game.

Portia de Rossi is one half of one of the world’s most famous same-sex couples, but according to PopEater.com it wasn’t enough to get her to be part of Dancing with the Stars’ first same-sex dance couple.

The website reports that de Rossi — who is married to Ellen DeGeneres — turned down an offer to compete last season with a female dance partner.

Seventh Heaven favourite actor James Franco is not a person who likes to sit still.

The actor is currently attending university, working in film, writing books and creating art.

Well, General Hospital fans will want to tune in as Franco returns to the soap opera this February for a couple of episodes.

He has already appeared in a number of General Hospital episodes this past July.
