If it seems like every guy you pass on the street is sporting extra facial hair these days, it’s not a fad — it’s Movember. And Metro wants you to grow it and show it!

The Movember campaign was started 10 years ago in Australia to raise money and awareness about men’s health issues, primarily prostate and testicular cancer.

The “Mo” comes from the word mustache, which participants grow while gathering donations throughout the month of November.

It’s now a global effort, with nearly four million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas collecting almost $500 million for health initiatives around the world.

This year, Metro is getting involved by launching #MetroStache.

Until Nov. 30, post photos of your mo’ to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the tags #MetroStache and @MetroNewYork, @MetroBos, or @MetroPhilly. In New York, also include local sponsor @Heights_Kenchi.

We’ll pick our favorites and award prizes, including some that will really come in handy once December comes.

In Boston and Philadelphia, we’re giving away a Braun 3Series 380S-4 Wet & Dry Shaver for one winner in each city. New Yorkers can win a gift from menswear store Heights + Kenchi.

The official Movember rules state that mustaches must be free-standing — not attached to sideburns or chin hair.
