Ghosts, witches and sexy nurses will be wandering the streets of Edmonton this weekend but the one costume that might be seen the most is that of a cop.
Edmonton Police Service spokesperson Clair Seyler said officers will be roaming the streets protecting revellers all weekend long.
“We will be doing that (increasing manpower) over the weekend just because of the Halloween parties that are going on in the entertainment districts,” Seyler said.
“We’ll be increasing substantially the amount of police officers on foot.”
Seyler said whether it’s Halloween or throughout the winter, people can blend in a lot more if they’re wearing a balaclava or a mask.
Two men, hiding their faces behind Halloween masks, burst into a liquor store on the north side on Wednesday and made off with cash and booze.
“Play safe and make sure you plan transportation beforehand and take off your masks when entering someone’s area so they don’t get frightened,” she said.
