A central Alberta school resource officer motivated to help a young terminal cancer patient was one of dozens of Mounties who shed their hair to raise money for cancer research.
Const. Adam Schedlosky, a school resource officer with the RCMP in Bentley, Alta., says he was inspired to help one of the students at the community’s elementary school, 11-year-old Justin Bickford.
“I was admired by his journey through cancer and it’s a great cause to be here today to support him,” Schedlosky said during the fundraiser at the RCMP K Division Headquarters Sunday. “He’s just a wonderful kid.”
Justin’s mother, Janis Bickford, says her son has been excited that the Red Deer Mountie took on the challenge.
Mounties in Alberta have raised more than $280,000 to support Kids with Cancer since the event began five years ago.
