A controversial treatment for multiple sclerosis has again come to the attention of provincial politicians.

Cape Breton West MLA Alfie MacLeod introduced a bill yesterday that, if approved, would grant $5 million for clinical trials into Liberation Treatment. MacLeod also presented a petition with more than 7,500 names in favour of the treatment.

A number of people suffering from MS were on hand during question period, where both the Liberals and the Tories attacked the government for refusing to fund the treatment. Premier Darrell Dexter and Health Minister Maureen MacDonald reinforced the province is waiting for national trials.
