Norovirus infects children at hospital

At least three confirmed cases and one suspected case of the highly contagious norovirus have been reported at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary.

All four cases involve young patients at the hospital and Alberta Health Services spokesperson Don Stewart said officials believe the outbreak has been contained.

“There were no more reported cases on Sunday so that is a good sign,” he said, adding the first case was reported on Wednesday.

About 20 staff members were either sent home or asked to stay home if they were feeling sick, but they won’t necessarily be tested for the virus.

“It’s something that will clear up in two or three days.”
