President Barack Obama set a single day record by any president when he granted a total of 78 pardons and shortened prison sentences for 153 convicts on Monday.
With the 78 pardons on Monday, he brought his total number of pardons to 148.
According to the White House, the president has reduced the sentences of 1,176 individuals, including 395 life sentences. The U.S. Department of Justice has released the complete list of pardons President Obama granted on Monday, which also included all of the pardons made by him throughout his presidency.
