During a press conference Wednesday afternoon President Obama weighed in on the proposal to take away Bill Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The President said that there was no precedent for taking back the medal from the comedian.
President Obama took the moment then to speak out against rape saying “If you give a woman — or a man, for that matter — without his or her knowledge a drug, and then have sex with that person without consent, that's rape. And I think this country, any civilized country, should have no tolerance for rape."
The Presidential Medal of Freedom has been awarded to numerous individuals such as Mother Teresa, and Harper Lee. Cosby was awarded the prized medal in 2002 by then President George Bush.
Around 45 women in the last couple of years have come forward with allegations that the Cosby drugged and raped them. The comedian has never been charged and denies every allegation.
