Over 400 charged in child seat blitz

Police charged over 400 people during a seatbelt blitz last month for failing to buckle up or use required child seats.

The city’s Integrated Road Safety Program issued 419 tickets to vehicle occupants for failing to use a seatbelt or ensure the use of required child car seats.

Of the 89 child passengers observed, 49 were using or sitting in the appropriate restraint for their height, weight and age. Of the 37 child car seats checked, fewer than half were properly installed.
