PHOTOS: Canadians compete in frozen hair contest

Think it’s cold in New York, Boston or Philadelphia? You may be stuck in a snowstorm here, but it’s nothing compared to the conditions at Takhini Hot Pools in Whitehorse, Yukon, where temperatures dipped to -22 degrees Fahrenheit. Guests at the resort entered the2015 International Hair Freezing Contest on February 9, during which they emerged from the hot springs to have their hair instantly frozen.

The winners were announced on Monday, and they were French tourists Maxime Goyouy Beauchamps, Milena Georgeault and Fanny Caritte, reports the Toronto Sun. Takini Hot Pools wrote on Facebook, “I’m pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 International Hair Freezing Contest! First place goes to this awesome photo! It’s the best one we’ve EVER received! These three lucky winners win $150 cash!” The winners look like frozen Whos from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” with their frozen nests of hair and eyebrows.

The honorable mention photos are pretty amazing, too – even a child entered the contest. No word on if the Canadians apologized for having so much fun.
