A Subway “sandwich artist” admitted yesterday to putting his penis on hoagie bread and posting photos on Instagram.
Two men in Columbus, Ohio, who work for the restaurant chain, sent the disturbing photographs to HuffPost Weird News. In several photos, Subway’s signature sandwich bread is shaped into penises.
One of the men, Cameron Boggs, admitted on Instagram that “today at work I froze my pee” in a water bottle.
Under the user name Weedpriest, Boggs posted on Instagram — and later deleted — a photo of a man rubbing his penis on footlong bread with a caption that reads, “My name is @ianjett and I will be your sandwich artist today.”
Ian Jett toldHuffPost Weird News that he did indeed put his penis in a sandwich, but denied that he did it at a Subway shop.
“I would never do that at work — it was at home,” he told the website. “This isn’t something I’d ever do at Subway. It was totally a joke.”
Regardless, the sandwich company reportedly terminated both men.
Subway said in a statement on Facebook: “This isolated incident is not representative of Subway sandwich artists. These actions are not tolerated and the store owner took immediate action to terminate the two employees involved.”
Despite the offensive and unsanitary misdeed, the social media reaction from Subway customers has been fairly tame — no public outcry or boycotting. However there were a few who were too shaken to eat at Subway as a result of the scandal.
After learning of the news today, Bruce Bocian wrote on the fast food chain’s Facebook page, “After the penis incident and the frozen urine, I am never going again and I was a big fan, what a shame. Loved the BMT.”
Richard Marr-Griffin agreed, saying “From now on I’ll make my sandwich at home, thank you. I’d rather not have someone’s ‘six inch’ on my six-inch.”
