Twenty Halifax police officers — and one police horse — will be getting haircuts for a good cause Saturday afternoon.

Titled Hair for Hero’s, the officers and Sarge the police horse are getting shaved for the Daniel McLellan Memorial Fund, which assists families in Atlantic Canada with children suffering from leukemia. The fund is named after Daniel McLellan, who passed away in 2004 after a four-month battle with cancer. The event, now in its sixth year, will take place in the centre court at Halifax Shopping Centre. Sarge’s haircut is scheduled for 2 p.m. The officers follow at 2:30 p.m.
