Two men in their early 20s were rushed to hospital in Saskatoon after they were found injured in a west-side neighbourhood just hours after 2009 had been welcomed in.

One of them died in hospital.

Police in Edmonton are investigating the city's 35th murder of last year after a young man was found in a pool of blood in the middle of a south-side avenue just before midnight.
