It’s been a big month for Anthony Scaramucci: the ex-Wall Street financier was hired as President Trump’s communications director, divorced by his wife because she reportedly hates Trump, and then fired by Trump 10 days after taking the job.
Scaramucci’s wife reportedly filed for divorce while she was nine months pregnant with the couple’s second child, blaming her husband’s “naked political ambition.”
Deidre Ball, 38, met Scaramucci while working at SkyBridge Capital, the firm her husband founded in 2005. The pair began dating in 2011 and married in 2014, the same year their first child together was born. Their second child was born last Monday. Sources told the New York Post’s Page Six that Ball despises President Donald Trump and had become fed up with 53-year-old Scaramucci’s ruthless ascent to power. She filed for divorce on July 6 in Nassau County Supreme Court.
“Deidre has left him and has filed for divorce. She liked the nice Wall Street life and their home on Long Island, not the insane world of D.C. She is tired of his naked ambition, which is so enormous that it left her at her wits’ end. She has left him even though they have two children together,” one unnamed source told the Page Six.
Ball’s attorney, Jill Stone, told Page Six that her client “is not making this into a circus. She has children to protect and that’s what she’s concerned about.”
An associate close to Scaramucci said the couple was trying to divorce amicably and said Scaramucci had chosen to pursue “a different career objective that didn’t align with Deidre’s trajectory.”
Sources described Scaramucci as “hell bent” on claiming a White House role — he even sold his stake in SkyBridge Capital in January for $11 million to further his ambitions.
Ball started working at Scaramucci’s hedge fund firm in 2007, rising from the ranks of associate to vice president of investor relations.
Ball was previously married to Anthony Portelli, but the pair divorced in 2011 — the very same year Scaramucci and his wife of 23 years, Lisa, also split. Scaramucci and Lisa have three children together.
Shortly after the divorces were finalized, Ball and Scaramucci began officially dating.
Their first son, Nicholas, was born in 2014 and the pair married later that year in an intimate Long Island ceremony.
“The big shift began when Deidre went from being arm candy to [being a mother] and being unavailable for nights out [and hobnobbing],” the source said to Page Six. “That’s when [Anthony’s] decision to just continue his life as it was and leave her behind really started to take hold.”
