Public hearing to be held into alleged police brutality

B.C.’s Police Complaint Commissioner announced yesterday that a public hearing will be held into allegations of abuse of authority by two Vancouver police officers.

The officers allegedly roughed up a Vancouver man, Yao Wei Wu — who speaks little English
after responding to a domestic assault call at the wrong address.

Police apologized for the incident and said the officers believed they were dealing with a violent suspect.

A date for the hearing has not been set.
