Red carpet adventures

Actor Jude Law only does the walk at the Sleuth dinner reception at Brant House.

Here’s a paradox to tell a photographer/social columnist: “You can come to the party but you can’t take pictures.” That seems to be the catchphrase of 90 per cent of publicists at the festival.

Or this line: “The talent’s coming.” But eventually never does. Being relegated to the red carpet for a majority of the festival’s parties, it was a delight to finally photograph stars in true party form at the Poor Boy’s Game post-screening celebrations, at The Spice Room.

The worst is when publicists, who walk the red carpet with talent, get in the way of a photographer’s shot thinking they’re stars themselves, like at the Sleuth dinner reception at Brant House. American publicists, why do you make a social columnist’s job so difficult?
