Rome wasn’t built in a day, but you can spend a perfect one there

Only have one day? Want to know how to spend the perfect 24 hours in the Eternal City? Let Metro Rome’s Luisa Mosello be your guide.

Where I’d wake up
Aleph Roma
aleph.boscolohotels.com
It’s the most fascinating designer hotel in the Eternal City — the five-star Aleph Roma, is inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. American designer Adam D. Tihany turned the former bank into a journey from hell to ecstasy — from the Inferno restaurant to the paradise of the hotel spa.

Spend the morning
The White Gallery
whitegallery.it
The White Gallery is a contemporary lifestyle store inside the Palace of Modern Art at the Eur, the modern neighbourhood famous for its rationalist architecture. Three floors are dedicated to lifestyle, fashion, accessories, design, fragrances, special gifts and food.

Where I’d lunch
Caffè della Pace
caffedellapace.it
For a light break I’d have a bruschetta della Pace (artichokes, olives and basil) and a salad with rocket, parmesan cheese and pears at the Caffè della Pace, cool hangout of designers, artists, actors and dudes for more than a century.

Spend the afternoon
MAXXI
fondazionemaxxi.it
Go to MAXXI, the new museum dedicated to the XXI century arts. Contemporary art, architecture, design shows, events and concerts are held in this building by Anglo-Iraqi designer Zaha Hadid which is itself a real masterpiece.
