A former U.S. Senator once responsible for the following string of tweets said he now counsels Donald Trump on taking a more “disciplined” approach to social media.

Scott Brown made the remarks during an interview on Alan Colmes’radio show Wednesday. The audio was recorded by Buzzfeed News.

When asked to elaborate, Brown continued:

“I told him a lot of what was happening in the debates. I suggested [what were] going to be the attacks, and this is how you should handle it. I’ve suggested to be more disciplined…not only with the tweets, but with the comments. Focus on getting policy and focusing on being more prepared when it comes to answering the easy media gotcha questions.

“He’s doing better. He’s had a rough patch but in the whole scheme of the campaign, I think every candidate has a rough patch.”

As Buzzfeed notes, it’s not the first time a well-known Republican criticized Trump for his from-the-hip tweeting style.

“We talk about it and a number of people have talked about it, including his family,” former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said in April. “And he knows that it’s a problem. And the first part of solving the problem is recognizing that it exists.”

Yeah? Well. . . Your brilliant, Ben. Bqhatevwr.
