The U.S. Coast Guard is searching in the Bahamas for a woman missing from a cruise ship.

Early Wednesday the ship was about 15 miles off the coast of the island of Grand Bahama when the 32-year-old U.S. citizen “was witnessed jumping overboard” Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement to CBS News.

The woman, whose name and hometown was not released, was on the 11th deck of the Carnival Ecstasy when she went overboard,   The Associated Press reported.

A search was launched immediately, with the Coast Guard deploying aircraft and two ships to an area about 27 miles southwest of the island, according to CBS.

The ship was on its way to Charleston, South Carolina after leaving Nassau, Bahamas. It resumed its journey at about 9 am.
