Sex crimes trial to be determined

A decision in the second sex crimes trial of former Nova Scotia businessman Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh is expected next month.

A decision in the second sex crimes trial of former Nova Scotia businessman Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh is expected next month.

In closing arguments yesterday, Crown lawyer Diane McGrath told provincial Supreme Court that MacIntosh preyed on the weakness and insecurity of children in alleged offences that date back to the 1970s.

But defence lawyer David Bright urged the judge to accept MacIntosh’s testimony that relations with two complainants were consensual and that there was no relation with the third complainant.

MacIntosh faces a total of 10 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency.

He was convicted in July in a separate case of 13 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency and sentenced to four years.

He has appealed that conviction
