Soup kitchen sends urgent food plea

For the first time in nearly 20 years, there was no soup being served at the Shepherds of Good Hope Soup Kitchen on Thursday.

They just didn’t have enough supplies, and are asking Ottawa residents to help.

“We’re struggling right now,” said spokesman Rob Eady. “We know that the community of Ottawa is very generous and we hope they can come through and get us through the rest of the summer.”

Eady said they would accept any food donations, but perishable items would have to be dropped off shortly after being purchased.
