Spook-tacular fun at Halloween bash

The South Fish Creek Recreation Association (SFCRA) opened its doors to the community this Halloween for its annual Boo-Riffic Bash in the city's south end.

The South Fish Creek Recreation Association (SFCRA) opened its doors to the community this Halloween for its annual Boo-Riffic Bash in the city's south end.

Kids in costume came to the South Fish Creek recreation complex for treats and games.

Christa Zaharychuk, the assistant general manager of SFCRA, said this event is a safe alternative to the traditional door-to-door trick or treating, which can make it easier for parents and their kids to have some Halloween fun.

“The Boo-Riffic Bash is free family fun that can be an addition or an alternative to going door-to-door,” said Zaharychuk. “This one-stop-shopping event is a great way to give back to our community.”

Christine Nielsen, a mother who attended the event with her two children, said it’s a great way to build community spirit, as well as guaranteed fun for her kids.

“Rain, snow or shine, we can always come to this event,” said Nielsen.

“It’s great for the community and it’s great when you can run into a lot of people you know. It does build up a nice community spirit.”
