Visitation to Liberty Island quickly returned to normal levels over the weekend after hundreds were forced to suddenly evacuate because of a bomb threat.

A menacing caller phoned authorities Friday and warned “they were going to blow up the Statue of Liberty," the National Park Service said in a statement.

A subsequent investigation found nothing suspicious, reports The Jersey Journal.

Tourists told the paper Saturday that they had a “great” time visiting the popular destination.

National Park Service spokeswoman Mindi Rambo told The Jersey Journal that more than 15,000 people  came out Saturday, which is normal.
