Suzanne focuses on skin care

Suzanne Dimma

Suzanne Dimma, host of The Style Dept., airing Tuesday nights on HGTV:

Q: What products make you look and feel good?

A: With my hectic job, my beauty routine has to be quick and easy. Because we shoot five days a week, sometimes 14 hours a day, getting my skin really clean after a long day is the most important thing. I’m a big fan of Dermalogica’s skin care line. I also swear by sunblock with an SPF of at least 30. If I had to live with only one product it would be my MAC foundation or Silkience by Redken for smoothing out those frizzy flyaway hairs. So I guess I’d need two.

Q: How do you keep life in perspective?

A: This is hard. I tend to worry a lot because I am so detail oriented and I’m a bit of a workaholic. My really good friends remind me of what’s really important in life — love and support, laughing a lot. It is the simple things in life that make you happy and you need to take time for them.

Q: How do you stay fit?

A: I go to the gym at least twice a week for a combination of weights and cardio workout. I’ve been doing yoga and Pilates for 15 years. Both are good for your mind and body. My best workouts are done outdoors — swimming, canoeing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Nothing compares to being in the fresh air and turning a great workout into a mini getaway!

Q: What are your healthy eating habits?

A: My preference is to eat fresh and organic. I love food and I don’t really limit myself. I just try not to overeat and I stick to quality food and load up on vegetables more than anything!

Kyle Schmid

Kyle Schmid, actor, plays Henry Fitzroy on Blood Ties, Sunday nights on Citytv:

Q: What products make you look and feel good?

A: I’d love to say I’m all natural, but everybody has to wash their face right? I use Clarins face wash with orange extract, and Biotherm Homme Aquapower moisturizer.

Q: Describe your style?

A: I like to keep my style simple. I love my Fryes, a good jean and simple T-shirts. I also like the T-shirts that make a statement and raise awareness around world issues. If anything it might open the eyes of someone who walks past you.

Q: How do you stay fit?

A: Normally I work out just to stay healthy. If a role calls for me to be bulkier or leaner, I’ll hit the gym. I prefer being outside though, whether it is snowboarding, wakeboarding or playing soccer.

Q: What are your healthy eating habits?

A: I guess you could say I was blessed with a quick metabolism. That’s what you get from playing 18 years of soccer. I kind of laugh at all the celebrity diets and weight loss schemes. I eat when I’m hungry. I’ll even eat McDonald’s. But I suppose the difference is I’m doing something active day in day out.
