A 16-year-old Sydney youth charged with second-degree murder will remain behind bars pending his next court appearance March 9.

A 16-year-old Sydney youth charged with second-degree murder will remain behind bars pending his next court appearance March 9.

The male, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with the Dec. 3 stabbing death of a 17-year-old Glace Bay girl, whose name is also prohibited from publication.

Police were called to a home on William Street in Whitney Pier shortly after 6 p.m., where they discovered the body of the teen.

The male youth is also charged with two counts of uttering threats and two counts of assault with a weapon, a knife. The threat and assault charges do not involve the stabbing victim.
