One motorcyclist in São Paulo rode into a scary situation when a thief stole his bike at gunpoint.
The biker caught the entire altercation on his helmet cam: The 35-year-old man was riding his white Honda Hornet about 3 p.m. on Saturday when he was stopped by another man at an intersection. The hijacker waved his .38 caliber revolver at him and demanded the man hand over his bike, reports UOL.
The suspect, Escarante Leonardo Santos, then took off with the motorcycle, but was surprised when a police officer on his way home shouted at him from the other side of the highway. Santos was about to shoot the cop but the officer shot him first: once in the leg and once in the abdomen.
Santos was hospitalized, but another suspect fled the scene.
Law enforcement officials released a statement saying the officer's actions were justified because the robber had clearly pointed his gun at the officer.
