Three pairs move on to compete next week in Battle of the Blades

All three skating pairs will be moving on to compete next week in CBC-TV's Battle of the Blades.

TORONTO - All three skating pairs will be moving on to compete next week in CBC-TV's Battle of the Blades.

Judge Sandra Bezic declared all three pairs safe for this week after Marie-France Dubreuil suffered a back injury and could not skate in the scheduled Monday night skate-off.

Before the judging panel made its decision Monday, it was revealed that the two pairs with the fewest votes in the sixth week of competition were Dubreuil and Stephane Richer along with Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson.

However, instead of the usual skate-off, Sale and Simpson as well as Shae-Lynn Bourne and Claude Lemieux performed their programs for exhibition only.

The skaters are competing to win $100,000 for the charity of their choice.

Dubreuil may be able to skate next week, Bezic said.
