Tickets risky on Craigslist: Broker

Scammers are taking advantage of the high demand for tickets to Arcade Fire’s sold-out show at Pacific Coliseum tonight.

One seller on Craigslist was promising a set of cheap tickets to several would-be buyers at the same time, asking for an email money transfer before sending multiple copies of the same ticket, which would end up being void at the door.

The problem with buying tickets on Craigslist is there’s no way of authenticating if they’re valid, said Mario Livich, CEO of ShowTimeTickets.com — a Vancouver-based ticket re-sale marketplace.

“Preferably, people would buy (tickets) from a reputable business … like a retail store front or from a member of the Canadian Ticket Brokers Association or the National Association of Ticket Brokers,” Livich said.
