Two face charges after marijuana bust

A man and a woman were arrested after police say they found 240 marijuana plants in a home on Waverley Road.

RCMP say they searched two homes on the street Monday afternoon and found the marijuana plants, along with two “sophisticated” growing apparatuses in one of the homes. They also say they found a loaded rifle, an illegal magazine clip, a small amount of cocaine and money.

A 24-year-old man was in Dartmouth provincial court yesterday facing charges of cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a prohibited device.

A 58-year-old woman will be in court at a later date to face charges of cultivation and possession of marijuana.
