VIDEO: British girls try, review American candy for first time

Blogger Rita, like thousands of college students every year, spent a semester abroad in the United Kingdom. While there she shared an apartment with four British roommates.

Realizing that American food and British food varies greatly, Rita decided to introduce a number of American snacks to her foreign friends. She filmed their reactions and asked them to rate the treats from one to five, one being absolutely horrible and five being the best.

The treats included Butterfingers, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Twinkies, Nerds, Cheetos, Twizzlers, Cracker Jacks and a number of cereals such as Fruit Loops and Apple Jacks.

The girls’ honest reaction to the candies is refreshing. While many of us were nostalgic for Butterfingers and Nerds during our semester abroad, hearing an honest review of the food, which in reality is terrible for us to eat, is great.

Reeses and Butterfingers ranked low for the girls, as did Twizzlers and the cereal.

“People feed these to their children?” one girl wondered about Twinkies.

The Cheetos were the girls’ favorite snack though they seemed disturbed by how unnaturally sweet and colorful the foods are.
