VIDEO: Viral ad that poked fun at suicide withdrawn by auto giant Hyundai

This is the online advert for a car that has been withdrawn by the Korean car giant Hyundai after a storm of complaints that it poked fun at a man’s suicide attempt.

In the ad a middle-aged man locks himself in his garage and turns on his Hyundai car engine in a attempt to gas himself.

But the attempt fails because, as the last seconds of the ad make clear, the car has a zero emission engine.

The ad was withdrawn by Hyundai this afternoon after complaints. On the company’s official Twitter feed, it said: “Hyundai understands that the video has caused offense. We apologize unreservedly. The video has been taken down and will not be used in any of our advertising or marketing.”
