Officials have oficially confirmed that two people are dead including the gunman, a freshman, Jaylen Fryberg.

The shooter who opened fire at a high school in Washington State on Friday was a student at the campus and is now dead following the incident, police said.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was believed to be the only fatality in the incident, Marysville Police Commander Robb Lamoureux told reporters.

Local media reported that at least two people were wounded in the shooting at Marysville -Pilchuck High Schoolnorth of Seattle and were being air-lifted to a local hospital. Their condition was not immediately clear.

The Seattle Times, citing two law-enforcement sources, said the suspected assailant was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The paper said ambulances were staged around the school and that police were searching the campus room by room.

Television images showed students gathered in a parking lot and on an athletic field on campus.
