Weekend to End Breast Cancer widens options

Thousands will take to the streets on Saturday and Sunday to raise funds for cancer research in the 2009 Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

While breast cancer research is always the primary focus of the two-day, 60-kilometre walk, this year’s event will offer a little more diversity as well.

“Walkers can choose to raise funds for other women’s cancers, primarily gynecological cancers like cervical cancer or ovarian cancer,” said Nick Locke, senior VP of development at the B.C. Cancer Agency.

Locke also said participants could walk on both days or just one.

Walker Krystyna Hunter said, “I know this sounds really cliché but I really feel that by doing this walk, I’m going to make a difference”

The event starts Saturday at the Rocky Mountaineer Station at 369 Terminal Ave.
