Who knew a sandwich could melt in your mouth? Chef Nico Schuermans of the new Dirty Apron Delicatessen (and most notably, Chambar) has created baguette sandwiches that are simply out of this world. No doubt, their specialness has something to do with the bread, which is baked in-house, every hour.
Each of the five options called my name (more like screamed), but I settled on the Confit Albacore Tuna ($8). Its lemony, olive oil-soaked meat was so fresh and tender, it was silky. Blanketing this was a perfectly pungent layer of house-made black olive tapenade, lime tarragon mayo, and a sprinkling of plump, juicy capers, big tomato wedges and arugula.
An equally to die for sweet and salty Squash Feta Walnut Salad ($1.99/100g) -- an item whipped up that day on a gourmet whim -- completed the thrilling lunch.
Note: the Confit Albacore Tuna Baguette was a special and is not always available, although my faith in other options is steadfast.
