Wikileaks has released a 20,000 Democratic National Committee emails that have many – Sen. Bernie Sanders supporters and others – expressing outrage.

CBS5 SF Bay Area reports the leak includes emails from DNC’s top brass: Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, chairperson; Erik Stowe, the northern California finance director; Luis Miranda, communications director; Jordon Kaplan, national finance director; Scott Comer, finance chief of staff; Daniel Parrish, finance director of data & strategic initiatives; finance director Allen Zachary and senior advisor Andrew Wright.

The emails, dating between January and May, allegedly show that the DNC encouraged news outlets to downplay Sanders in the media, encouraged false stories to be told about the campaign (such as the “chair throwing” incident at a convention in Nevada) and used the power of the DNC to further the candidate’s position in the primaries.

Some netizens have taken offense to Sanders’ supporters being referred to as “insurgents” and others are even calling for Sanders to take back his endorsement of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
