A woman hurled questions at White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer while he shopped at an Apple Store Saturday, asking him how it feels to “work for a fascist?”
ShreeChauhan, an Indian-American self-described feminist, who was born in New York, posted the 50-second clip on Twitter.
She saw Spicer at the Apple Store when she went in to have her phone fixed and decided to question the press secretary, “since he doesn’t like the press.”

“I realized what an enormous opportunity it was to get answers without the protections normally given to Mr. Spicer,” Chauhan wrote in a post on Medium. “I was honestly quite nervous and wanted to come up with more cogent questions but did not have time to do so.” She asked Spicer if he was a”criminal.” Then, she fired off questions asking, “have you committed treason too, like the president?” and, “What can you tell me about Russia, Mr. Secretary?” To which Spicer responded, ““such a great country that allows you to be here.”
Chauhan said she didn’t intially hear Spicer’s comment, but called his response “racist.”
“I am still stunned by the boldness of having my citizenship threatened on camera,”she wrote in her post on Mediumthe day after the encounter. “I was not polite. But when does being impolite mean that I should be thrown out of the United States of America? The country I was born in, the country I was raised in, the country I love despite its flaws.”
He stumbled.
He said on camera that this country ALLOWS me to be here. Like I’m not an American. Like I don’t belong. Must be my melanin. https://t.co/Fmjn16o5Wq
